-About Me-
I grew up in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, just south of Saint Paul. My family is extremely important to me and they have all helped form me into the person I am today, they are my biggest support system. I also have a passion for baking and cooking, both of these activities allow me to express my creativity through food. I love to travel. I have a goal to make it to all 50 states by the time that I am 50 years old. My favorite and most memorable place that I have ever been to was Rome, Italy. This is where I was truly able to find myself and discover what I wanted to do with my future and that was to become a teacher.
-Why Teaching-
I chose to go into teaching because I love watching young students learn and develop their knowledge and skills. When a student understands something using concepts that I taught them, it makes my day. Growing up, I did not receive an education that was based on current research on how students are able to learn best. Rather, the students sat in straight lines and read from the book. This is not how I learn, I need movement and creativity. It was not until late middle school that my teacher recognized my struggle and started using different methods in the classroom. I want to be that teacher for students but I would like to catch it before the students are in middle school. I want to help the students when they are in 1st and 2nd grade to try and not allow them to get as far behind as I had in the elementary grades.

-Where I am From and Where I am Going-
As I stated previously, I am from a suburb of Saint Paul Minnesota. I grew up in the city and have always been a city girl. I grew up attending 2 different private schools, Holy Trinity in South Saint Paul and Saint Agnes in Saint Paul. Both of these schools were great experiences and I would not trade them. I realized in high school that I was very fortunate for the education that I received. I also, in high school, realized that many of the schools surrounding me and the students that attended them where not as fortunate in their lives and education. Rather, I found that many students were struggling with family life or homelessness. These were the students that needed teachers who could help them believe in themselves and their futures, no matter the struggles they were having in the present. This is the kind of teacher that I will be for my students one day.
